Amazon's job shrinkage

Amazon, opens new tab CEO Andy Jassy, in a letter to employees on April 17, said he expects the company's total workforce to decline over the next few years due to the introduction of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and agents.

Jassy said, "As we expand our adoption of generative AI and agents, the way work is done will change. Some jobs that are done today will require fewer people, while other types of work will require more people," he explained.

In particular, AI is being used to optimize inventory and delivery networks, improve chatbots for customer service, and improve the display of detailed product information.

For some time now, I have been thinking more and more about the agenda that AI may take human jobs in the future in high school.

I had thought that AI would be more efficient in some areas, but it is surprising that a large company like Amazon quickly reduced employment through AI promotion.

AI has only entered our daily lives in the last few years.

By the time we enter the workforce, AI will be even more advanced, and the situation will have changed even further from what it is today.

I think we need to think more about the information society.

  1. AI has already eliminated the need for cashiers, receptionists, restaurant staff, etc. I am a bit worried that many jobs will be lost in the future.

  2. I hope that employees who are laid off can shine at their next jobs.
